JASON ROTHENBERG RAIZE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR SMTW
TWO SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED EVERY SUMMER (1 FOR THE KIDS GROUP/1 FOR THE TEEN GROUP)
Jason grew up in the Oneonta area, and performed in numerous productions at Orpheus Theatre, including WEST SIDE STORY, ANNIE, THE KING AND I, and GYPSY. Upon graduating from High School, he went on to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. Jason was then cast as Pilate in the National Tour of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, and soon thereafter landed the role of Simba in the Broadway production ofTHE LION KING. Jason's passion for theatre began at a young age and continued throughout his life. His exuberance in life and on stage brought joy to all.
In honor of Jason, Orpheus Theatre offers two scholarships each year for our Summer Musical Theatre Workshops. Jason's love and commitment to theatre at a young age is something that Orpheus would like to continue to encourage in our youth. The scholarships go to those who exhibit a burning desire to learn more about theatre.Orpheus Theatre extends heartfelt thanks to the Rothenberg family for requesting donations be made to our theatre company in Jason's memory, giving more children the opportunity to learn about theatre.
If you would like to donate towards this scholarship fund, donations should be made payable to Orpheus Theatre, with notation of The Jason Rothenberg Raize Scholarship, and mailed to the Orpheus Theatre office at PO Box 1014, Oneonta, NY 13820.
