Journey to the heart of the African savanna in Disney’s The Lion King Jr., a beloved coming-of-age story brought to life by unforgettable music, vibrant characters, and young performers.

The story follows Simba, a young lion destined to be king, as he learns what it truly means to lead. After tragedy strikes, Simba leaves his home behind, only to discover—through friendship, courage, and self-discovery—that facing the past is the only way to claim the future. Along the way, audiences will meet fan-favorite characters like Nala, Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa, whose humor and heart help guide Simba on his journey.

Filled with iconic songs from the original animated film and Broadway stage production, The Lion King Jr. celebrates themes of family, responsibility, bravery, and finding your place in the world. This joyful, high-energy production is perfect for audiences of all ages and showcases the talent, teamwork, and creativity of Orpheus Theatre’s young performers.

Audition and Registration Details:

Registration: January 12 – January 21 (or until we reach 50 signups)

Age Requirements: Participants must be 8–18 years old at the time of the program (through high school).
Audition Date: January 24th, 12pm - 5 PM

Audition Location: Orpheus Theatre Southside Mall location

Rehearsals Begin: February, 1, most Sundays from 12-5 PM at the Orpheus Theatre Southside Mall location

​How to Audition:

Register Online: Visit our website between January 12th and January 21st to sign up for auditions. Registration is limited to 50 students and you must be registered to attend the auditions.

Audition: Show us your talent on January 24th at 12pm!

Casting: We’ll select a cast of approximately 30 actors. You will be notified via email.

Accept and Join: Accept your role within 2 days and pay the tuition of $350 ($300 for siblings) (scholarships and payment plans available) to secure your spot in the program.
*Students (12+) interested in being involved behind the scenes will simply register by choosing “Backstage/production” on the registration form. Tuition is $150.
